The mission of the Henry Carter Hull Library is to provide an inviting and dynamic environment, where all members of our community may discover both information and inspiration.
Your library card entitles you to borrow materials from all public libraries in Connecticut. Clinton residents may obtain a Henry Carter Hull Library card by filling out our registration form at the library. Children may get a card in September of their Kindergarten year. Parents or guardians are responsible for any items checked out on their child’s card. Non-residents must have a current hometown library card to borrow materials.
Books, CDs, Audio Books, Color Nooks, Leapsters, Playaways, Ukuleles, Guitar and Magazines may be borrowed for 2 weeks and may be renewed online or over the phone. Movies, Hotspots, and Roku Streaming Devices may be borrowed for 7 days.
An adult library cardholder may take out any combination of 7 Blu-Rays or DVDs at one time. We do not limit the number of Books, CDs, Audio Books, or magazines.
Downloadable Borrowing Limits
A Clinton cardholder may stream 8 Kanopy films per month and stream or download 5 Hoopla items per calendar month. Both Clinton and non-Clinton cardholders may borrow 3 Freading eBooks per week, and stream or download 2 RBDigital eBooks or audiobooks at a time.
Most items, with the exception of new DVDs, Blu-rays, or devices, may be renewed online, in person at the Circulation Desk, or over the phone at 860-669-2342 — unless another person has requested the material. New DVDs and Blu-rays cannot be renewed after the 7 day checkout period.
If the book, CD or Audio Book you want is not on the shelf when you call or visit, you may place yourself on a hold list by logging in to your library account or speaking with a library staff member. We will notify you when the item is available, and hold it for 5 business days. Hotspots will be held for a maximum of 3 days. Holds are not available for movies.
WiFi Hotspots, Roku Devices, Nooks, Ukuleles, and Guitar: $2.00 a day per item, $8 maximum.
Returning borrowed materials
All materials may be dropped off at the Circulation Desk, the Children’s Desk, in our Drive-up Book Drop, or in the Book/Movie Drop at the front of our building. Please return Nook Color devices and Roku devices to the front desk. Books from the HCH Library may be returned to any public library in the state. We ask that videos borrowed from our collection be returned to our building.
Beyond our collection
If the material you need is not in our collection, we’ll do our best to borrow it from another library for you. To use this service yourself, visit reQuest the Statewide Catalog. You will be contacted when the items ordered arrives here. Once you have finished, return the material to the HCH Library.

Lost library materials are charged the list price of the item.
Lost library card fee: $2 per card.
Items damaged while in your possession are assessed a charge after determining the extent of the damage.
The Henry Carter Hull Library assumes no responsibility for damage or alleged damage to a borrower’s hardware caused by a library CD, DVD, or Blu-ray disc.
