Trick AND treat! Get ready for Halloween this October with a special spooky series of new horror film matinees at Henry Carter Hull Library every Friday at 1pm and enjoy some classic Halloween candy. We’ll also have fresh popcorn, compliments of Chips’ Pub III! Adults are invited to join us for these free screenings on the following dates: Pet Sematary on Friday, 10/4 (2019, 100 minutes, Rated R), Ma on Friday, 10/11 (2019, 110 minutes, Rated R), The Dead Don’t Die on Friday, 10/18 (2019, 104 minutes, Rated R), and Halloween on Friday, 10/25 (2018, 106 minutes, Rated R).

Pet Sematary, Friday, 10/4 (2019, 100 minutes, Rated R) – A family moves to rural Maine where they discover the dark powers of a burial site known at the “Pet Sematary.” Film by Kevin Kölsch and Dennis Widmyer starring Jason Clarke, Amy Seimetz, John Lithgow, Jete Laurence, and Hugo Lavoie.

Ma, Friday, 10/11 (2019, 110 minutes, Rated R) – A lonely middle-aged woman strikes up an unlikely friendship with a circle of teenagers. She offers to let them use her house as their party spot until unnerving episodes begin unfolding, causing the teens to question their host and her motives. Film by Tate Taylor starring Octavia Spencer, Luke Evans, Juliette Lewis, Missi Pyle, and Allison Janney.

The Dead Don’t Die, Friday, 10/18 (2019, 104 minutes, Rated R) – Unusual events begin to unfold in the small and uneventful town of Centerville, from animals behaving oddly to irregular periods of daylight. Yet the most serious of all occurs when corpses leave their graves to attack the townspeople. Film by Jim Jarmusch starring Bill Murray, Adam Driver, Tilda Swinton, Chloë Sevigny, and Steve Buscemi.

Halloween, Friday, 10/25 (2018, 106 minutes, Rated R) – A survivor suffering from PTSD braces herself for a final confrontation with a serial killer who terrorized her suburban neighborhood four decades earlier after he escapes from confinement while being transferred to a maximum-security prison. Film by David Gordon Green starring Jamie Lee Curtis, Judy Greer, Andi Matichak, Will Patton, and Virginia Gardner.
