Summer Reading 2022

Children's Summer Reading

1,000 Books Before Kindergarten (Birth to Kindergarten) 
Register online or in-person.

Once registered, we will take a photo of your child for our bulletin board.
You also get to choose a free book from our Book Sale.
After every 100 books read, we will move your child's photo up the chart.
Once you reach 1,000 books we will move their photo to the top of the chart and
you will receive an awesome HCH tote bag. 

Ongoing program. Register at the children’s desk any time.

Children's Summer Reading (Kindergarten to age 11)
Register Online starting June 16th.


Once registered, you will receive your chain, beads, and your first brag tag.
Add a bead to your chain every day that you read for at least 20 minutes.
Earn fancy beads and additional brag tags by playing Read & Bead Bingo.

Summer Reading Raffle - All ages!

Stop in every week, check out some children’s books and earn a ticket for our weekly raffle. New drawing every Friday for a gift card to a local business. 1 ticket per family per week.

This random act of kindness is funded through a grant from the Peach Pit Foundation in partnership with the Community Foundation of Middlesex County.

Teen Summer Reading


Read Beyond the Beaten Path!

Teen Summer Reading starts June 16th and ends August 31st.

Register online or in-person.
Pick up a paper log in the Teen Room or print log from here, then track your time spent reading.

Receive 1 raffle ticket for every 30 minutes of weekly reading.
Let us know how much time you spent reading each week.
 
Each Friday all summer long your reading raffle tickets will be entered into a drawing to win a $25 gift card.

You can tell us what you have read by stopping by the Reference Desk, calling 860-669-2342, or by email at askus@hchlibrary.org.

Each week starts new. You have 10 chances to win. Each Friday!

HCH Library has partnered with the Clinton Land Conservation Trust for a
StoryWalk (Story Hike that is!) in Clinton's Kenilworth Forest

StoryWalk is a deconstructed storybook carefully set on posts allowing readers to move through the story in the fresh air. The book for Summer 2022 is, A Nest is Noisy by Dianna Hutts Aston.
